Marie von Ebner-Eschenbach (1830–1916) was a prominent Austrian writer, best known for her realistic and psychologically profound novellas, plays, and aphorisms. She is considered one of the most important German-speaking female authors of the 19th century and often addressed social injustices and human weaknesses.
