Juan Ramón Jiménez (1881–1958) was a Spanish poet from Moguer in Andalusia who helped initiate the renewal of Spanish poetry in the 20th century. His work combined influences from modernism, late Romanticism, and the popular tradition of the Romancero. He was a forerunner of the Generation of ’27 and received the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1956.
