Healthy Mind in a Sound Body by Juvenal

„Your prayer must be for a healthy mind in a sound body. Ask for a brave soul that has no fear of death, deems length of life the least of nature's gifts and is able to bear any kind of sufferings, knows neither wrath nor desire and believes the woes and hard labors of Hercules better than the loves and feasts and downy cushions of Sardanapalus. Reveal what you are able to give yourself; the only path to a life of tranquility lies through virtue.“

Decimus Iunius IuvenalisJuvenal emphasizes the importance of a healthy mind and body and virtue for a life of tranquility and fearlessness of death.

Decimus Iunius Iuvenalis, also known as Juvenal, was a Roman satirist who likely lived during the 1st and 2nd centuries. His exact life dates are uncertain, but it is believed he was born around 60 AD and died some years after 127 AD. Originating probably from Aquinum, he is best known for his sharp satires. There are unconfirmed reports of his exile, but these remain speculative.

"If you want to improve, be content to be thought foolish and stupid with regard to external things. Don't wish to be thought to know anything; and even if you appear to be somebody important to others, distrust yourself. For, it is difficult to both keep your faculty of choice in a state conformable to nature, and at the same time acquire external things. But while you are careful about the one, you must of necessity neglect the other" Epiktet
