Shailer Mathews (1863–1941) was a prominent theologian associated with the Chicago School and the Social Gospel movement in the United States. He taught various theological disciplines at the University of Chicago and advocated for the application of scientific methods in theology as well as ecumenical cooperation. From 1912 to 1916, he served as president of the Federal Council of Churches in America.
