Ludwig Erhard (1897–1977) was a German politician (CDU) and economist. As Federal Minister for Economic Affairs from 1949 to 1963, he significantly shaped the social market economy that enabled Germany’s post-war economic miracle. He served as Chancellor of West Germany from 1963 to 1966.
