Andrew Jackson was born on March 15, 1767, in the Waxhaws and died on June 8, 1845, near Nashville, Tennessee. He served as the seventh president of the United States from 1829 to 1837 and founded the Democratic Party of the United States together with Martin Van Buren. He first became known through his military career, particularly his participation in the War of 1812 and various campaigns against Native Americans.
